Men will never understand the ritual that is ladies night: Pulling a versatile afterwork outfit, searching for the right location, vibe, food and drink. It’s the one affordable night a week where WAGS can club without seeing their significant other throwing shapes, and where singles can rant about work and share Tinder nightmares. In a city filled with bars, we’ve dug up the hottest ladies nights in Singapore.
Booking a table at Joël Robuchon without your significant other? Before the fear sets in that he forgot an anniversary, tell your partner it’s just for ladies night. The French haute cuisine house has come out with a luxury ladies night experience: Robuchon’s five-course dinner menu paired with free flow Verve Cliquot champagne. Our most memorable dishes from this gourmet set include the La Saint-Jacques, a scallop cooked “a la plancha” (fancy way of saying pan-fried) with creamy coconut and coriander and Le Homard, Maine lobster on a bed of guacamole with fresh vegetables drizzled in turmeric oil. This gourmet meal set is our favourite way to say, ‘Hey it’s Wednesday’.
Joel Robuchon Restaurant, $138++ for five-course dinner and free-flow Verve Cliquot, Available 6-8:30pm on Wednesdays; 8 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa, rwsentosa.com
With one of the most reasonable value-for-money deals in the city, Zafferano pairs two of our favourite things: bubbles and pizza. This Italian eatery ticks all the boxes for a perfect girls’ night out. The ambiance is cosy, there’s plenty of space and there’s a great view of the Marina Waterfront from the 43rd floor. The free-flow Prosecco comes with complimentary pizza bites for those essential snacking hours between work and dinner.
Zafferano, free-flow of Prosecco at SGD28++ with complimentary pizza bites from 5:30pm to 7:30pm; Ocean Financial Centre, Level 43 10 Collyer Quay, zafferano.sg
If you’ve ever been to Paris, you’ll know that Singapore’s Gavroche is reminiscent of the intimate cafes in the 7th arrondissement. The main difference being a glass of rosé is complimentary till 9pm, and the outside temperature is about 20 degrees warmer. Always packed on a Wednesday night, it’s one of the best places to practice your French or swirl your glass around like you know what you’re doing. The dim and narrow space is a cosy place to nosh on some tartine (small, open-faced sandwich with spread), but get there early as it gets very busy very quickly.
Café and Bar Gavroche, complimentary rosé on Wednesdays from 6-9pm, 69 Tras Street, cafegavroche.com
No matter where you are in the world, there’s no such thing as a flat Mexican night. There’s too much going on: taco toppings falling dramatically from your hands, slushy, potent drinks, and a mariachi band if you’re lucky. Señor Taco offers one of the loudest ladies nights of the week: Their passion fruit mojito is the “latin lover” cocktail available on Wednesdays. For something more refreshing, the Señor offers a refreshingly sweet Rosarito Beach. Work off those calories with their weekly salsa lessons for both advanced (starts 7pm) and beginners (starts 8pm) by internationally acclaimed choreographers Karen Lacey and Flavian.
Señor Taco, free-flow Lime Margarita, Señor Taco Mojito or wine with purchase of first drink, Wednesdays from 7-9pm, Clarke Quay, 3D River Valley Rd, 01-12, senortaco.sg
WooBar in Sentosa is short for “Woot, it’s nearly the weekend”. Alright, not really, but it’s fun to get out of the city to spend the night on a little tropical island within our little tropical island. Catch up with your mates while curled up on Woobar’s hanging cocoon chairs to the backdrop of the marina. This chic Heel Before Me ladies night offers free-flow champagne after the purchase of your first glass.
WOOBAR, W Singapore, 7:30-9:00pm, SGD 36++ for first glass of champagne, free-flow follows, 9pm to 12am: Drinks 50% off, Sentosa Cove, 21 Oceans Way, woobar.wsingaporesentosacove.com
A ‘rake’ is a womanising man who spends his fortune on gambling and wine… so it’s apt that this new Las Vegas-esque club has one of the wildest ladies nights in the city. This is the after-party for ladies who don’t want to restrict their night out to a few cocktails, just to get out of the house. Eight sleek private VIP booths wrap around the dance floor populated by partygoers who aren’t afraid of a little Thursday morning hangover.
Rakes, free-flow vodka 10pm-1am on Wednesdays, B1-03/04 Chijmes, 30 Victoria Street, rakes.sg
