Meat lovers in Singapore should definitely not miss Park Hotel Alexandra’s annual Great Meat Fest, which runs this year from September 28 until October 21 at the hotel’s The Carvery restaurant. Featuring some of the best beef cuts from around the world, this superb meat buffet also offers one of the best versions of roast pork we’ve tried for a long time and a very tasty rotisserie chicken.
The star of the show though is the beef. Offering premium cuts from Japan (Yukimuro Snow-Aged Wagyu), Australia (Tajima Wagyu and 150 days Grain-Fed City Black Angus) and Uruguay (Ana Paul Black Angus), Executive Chef Ian Hioe has selected four distinctly different cuts for a contrasting taste and texture experience, highlighting how diverse this meat can be.
Our favourite is the Tri Tip Tajima Wagyu, prepared sous-vide with olive oil and herbs, and then grilled on a Himalayan Sea Salt slab. Tender and full of flavour, it’s seriously delicious, with or without the vast array of condiments. Accompany your meats with roasted heirloom carrots, creamy mash and a handsome Yorkshire pudding or two – but try to leave some room for their excellent British desserts.
