For too long, Singaporeans have been biting into burgers that are a step away from what they used to be – simple and honest without the frills. Introducing Mo & Jo Sourdough Burgers, a new burger joint to hit Singapore for those who love great buns – of the burger kind that is – served up with unfussy, tasty fillings.


Mo & Jo, with its first location now open in Greenwood, is the brainchild of Baker & Cook founder Dean Brettschneider and chef Jenna White. The pair have designed Mo & Jo’s top notch burgers to be eaten fuss-free with two hands, and are made fresh using daily-baked sourdough buns.

Burger aficionados can choose from a range of handmade fillings to pair with their buns, from Australian grain-fed or vegetarian burger patties, fresh Australian barramundi, pulled pork or chicken, sandwiched between lettuce, tomato, cheese and onion, and topped off with Mo & Jo’s homemade mayo, sauces, relish and pickles.

To help wash the burgers down, Mo & Jo has launched Baker Boy Summer Ale, a refreshing handcrafted beer that is the perfect accompaniment to the Mo & Jo menu. Baker Boy is a 4.8% ABV well-rounded beer created for tropical sessions in Singapore, and features a slight sweetness from the malt, with a short bitter finish.

Dean Brettschneider said: “As an artisan baker, sourdough is in our DNA. We believe that the bread can make or break a burger. Forget sweet brioche buns that go soggy; we have stayed true to tradition and created a bun that is made out of real bread and has a softness and bouncy texture that pairs perfectly with the filling.”

“These are wholesome, good-quality burgers that are hard to find these days and we’re proud to be bringing them back. Why not wash one down with our new easy-drinking summer ale – it’s a match made in burger heaven,” he said.

Popular choices on the menu include the ‘Holy Smoke’ – beef patty, smoked bacon, caramelized onion, house mayo and BBQ sauce; ‘Naughty CCC’ – crumbed and fried chicken breast, camembert cheese and cranberry sauce; ‘The Barra’ – barramundi, lemon and caper mayo, tomato relish; or the ‘Classic Kiwi’ that showcases a piece of Dean and Jenna’s New Zealand roots – a beef patty, beetroot, fried egg, cheddar, house mayo and mustard.


Those with a sweet tooth can finish their meal with Mo & Jo’s soft serve, a chocolate caramel brownie or apple and cherry pie.

With a bright and breezy design aesthetic, the 30-seat neighbourhood restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating is centred around an open kitchen for foodies to watch their burgers being made.

Mo & Jo is also open for weekend brunch to enjoy bottomless Allpress filter coffee, a selection of morning treats, and a short but sweet brunch menu featuring a ‘Brekkie Burger’, ‘Chorizo Hash’ and ‘Vanilla Iced Cinnamon Buns.’
